County junior coaching (from Jnr committee meeting, Sept 09)

Given the low girl entry in the county championships, Linda Winder was asked to develop sessions, probably up to 1½ hours long, for girls in various age groups. The county will support this initiative by paying for the coaching at a rate of £20 per hour. Unfortunately a similar offer cannot be currently be made for the boys as, according to information received, the 2 likeliest coaches to be enlisted, Gary Thwaite and Gavin Stephenson, are not currently ES registered and licenced.

Development (from Jnr committee meeting, Sept 09)

Linda Winder reported on a meeting that had been held earlier in the week with Chris Lenghorn, Angela Cwaczko and representatives of Cumbria Squash. Chris is offering to manage a 'mass coaching' event at clubs with 4+ courts who are able to provide volunteer level 1 & 2 coaching support. He proposes to run 3 x 2 hour sessions in the day at a cost of £5 per participant. The first of these sessions is scheduled for 5 December at Carlisle.
