Young squash players from all around Cumbria competed for honours
in the annual Wigton Graded Competition. The competitors and parents
must be highly commended for their efforts after lots of snow made
travelling conditions tricky to say the least. The competition which
has been held for numerous years was once again organised by Liz Jackson,
and took place over the weekend of the 27/28th November. Competitors
from the ages of 8 to 12 represented clubs from Wigton, Workington,
Whitehaven, Carlisle and Windscale The host club Wigton had 5 winners
and Whitehaven had the other 3 winners. The tournament highlighted
the current talent that the county juniors possess and gives hope
for the future as several youngsters were playing in their first competition,
performing excellently - By Jonathan Irving.
