2010 - 25th/26th September.Windscale Juniors are just Champion.
At the recent Cumbria County Closed Junior Squash Championships at Carlisle, Windscale Squash Club had a large squad of 16 players attending the event. With a total of four county champions amongst these, it displays that the amount of support and work going into the juniors at the club, is producing quality players. Ross Singleton in U11 boys was the first Windscale player to become 2010 county champion by totally dominating his age group and winning the final 3-0, very much a star for the future. Jackson Holliday tried to emulate his team-mate by reaching the U13 boys final, but unfortunately had an "off-day" and performed below his normal standard, which enabled his opponent Bradley Frain ( Whitehaven) to win 3-1. Megan Singleton was not about to let her little brother Ross have all the bragging rights in their household by winning U15 girls final 3-0 against Holly Lyons (Carlisle).U17 girl's final was an all Windscale affair with reigning champion Jessica Winder defending against friend and team-mate Louisa McGregor. After a spirited tussle "Jess" won her sixth county title 3-0. Adam Pearson having just moved up into U17 boys reached the final and was going for his third county title against Aaron Murray ( Dalton ). Adam gave a tremendous display and clinched the match 3-1 to now have titles at three age groups. Hannah Crichton won her way to the U19 girl's final, but had a tough opponent in the form of Rachel Kennon ( Cockermouth ). Despite some determined play from Hannah, she had to settle for runner-up, going down 3-1. Peter Wallace received the" Matthew Allinson Trophy" for his good sportsmanship and all round "good egg" type of behaviour over the competion. A tremendous weekend was had by all the Windscale kids ( and parents ) and thanks goes to the organizers for that, and to Windscale Head Coach Linda Winder and her team for giving kids the opportunity to play in the event.2009 - 26th/27th September Is WEST Best?
