WINDSCALE LADIES COMPLETE THE "TRIPLE" DOUBLE

After winning Cumbria Ladies Squash League for the third time in three years, Windscale ladies were hoping to make it a third year running League & Cup double winning season at Carlisle Squash Club last weekend. Standing in their way were Penrith Squash Club ladies, and with the Crichton family (Hannah & Lyn, members of last years Cup winning team) Lara Cooper now at university, and County Champion Linda Winder unavailable, a result looked anything but certain. New squad members Lisa Powe, Megan Singleton, and Margaret Thompson, joined Luisa McGregor and Jessica Winder in their bid to do the" triple" Megan was first on and took a tight nervy first game 11-9 then went on to win the next two 9-2, 9-2 to put Windscale one tie up. Lisa won 9-1, 9-2 before having to stave off a determined challenge in the third game, but won it 10-8 to put Windscale two ties ahead. Luisa sealed the "triple double" by winning 9-3, 9-3, 9-4 for a comfortable win Margaret was to lose only five points in her 3-0 victory, while Jessica lost only a solitary point in a dominant performance, to round off a 5-0 match result. The strength in depth of Windscale ladies was evident in this emphatic victory, and congratulations go to all members of the squad.
