24 hour squash marathon.
Wigton Squash Club is preparing for a non stop charity 24 hour
squash marathon. The event, which is part of a 2 day open weekend
at Wigton Rugby Club, starts at 4pm on Saturday 4th September and
will continue non stop for 24 hours. Club players of all ages and
standards are taking part - juniors, club players, team players
and veterans. The club is raising money for the Great North Air
Ambulance which provides vital life saving support to rural Cumbria.
Several recent tragedies have demonstrated the importance of the
air ambulance to our communities. If you would like to support our
event, please visit our JustGiving site at http://www.justgiving.com/Wigton-Squashathon
Many thanks John Honeyman

CS Inter County Teams 2009/2010 (posted 09/08/09)
We have entered the following teams in the ICC for the forthcoming
season:
Junior Girls: U15 & U17
Junior Boys: U13, U15, U17, U19
Men: Over 35, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55
I had no responses for Men Over 60 and, particularly disappointing,
no interest at all shown for the Men’s Senior event.
Similarly no interest was shown at all for Women’s Senior & Age
Group teams.
David Henderson is in process of organising Team Managers for the
junior teams.
Team Captains for the Men’s Over 55 & Over 50 events have been
appointed – Over 55 Ronnie Bell, Over 50 Chris Lilley.
I am looking for captains for the Over 35 & 45 teams – anyone interested?
Until I can make such appointments I will be direct contact with
Alison Henley – ES&R Organiser

Special performance award
I am pleased to report that the Executive Committee
has given a special performance award to Gary Thwaite for his formidable
performances over a period more than 25 years. The attached note
gives all details (download
note). The presentation was made at Windscale Club’s 50th
anniversary celebration evening on 4 April 2009. Gary was presented
with two awards by visiting superstars James Wilstrop and Lee Beachill
to make it a really special occasion for him – my thanks to the
lads for doing this. I give my thanks also to Windscale Club (Graham,
Ian & Patty) for working with us and allowing us to be part of that
very special evening. I have attached a photograph of the presentation
kindly provided by Jim Irving – thanks Jim. It was an excellent
evening – congratulations Windscale on your 50th - Tom Armstrong.
