Message from inter county secretary John Crichton about the upcoming season:
Just to confirm to you all that Cumbria have entered teams in the following age-groups for this seasons Inter County Competition;
- Boys: under 13, under 15 and under 17.
- Girls: under 13, under 15 and under 19.
The County are looking at having two training “Squad” sessions at CARLISLE
Sunday September 8th
- Group 1 (Boys U13 & Girls U13, Girls U15) 10am – 1pm
- Group 2 (Boys U15, Boys U17 & Girls U19) 1:30pm – 4:30pm
and Sunday September 15th,
- Group 1 (Boys U13 & Girls U13, Girls U15) 10am – 1pm
- Group 2 (Boys U15, Boys U17 & Girls U19) 1:30pm – 4:30pm
This will give Paul an idea as to the relevant strength of players and their commitment to playing Inter County Squash this season, (times of sessions to follow). The County Closed Championship at Carlisle on September 28th/29th will see who is challenging for team positions depending on the entries, and this will still leave a further opportunity in the following fortnight for him to fine-tune any selection issues ready for the Stage 1 events, including additional players if required.
If any players on this e mail distribution list are unavailable to represent their County this season can they please let me (John Crichton 07899024192 mob, or ) know immediately so that Paul can tailor his “squads/selections” to suit.

This season ESR are experimenting this season with all the boys age-groups (and likewise all the girls age-groups) being played on the same day, so there is no player able to play for their County at two different age-groups as has occurred in previous years.
When I am informed by the host Counties of their chosen venue I will pass on the information accordingly, at this moment Cumbria are deciding on the venues for the two Stage 1 events we have to host, and as soon as it’s finalised again this will be passed on.
Good luck in your squash this season and let’s see if Cumbria can achieve as much success as they did last season (getting two age-groups into the Inter County Finals).
