Ronnie makes national over 60 final

Carlisle squash veteran Ronnie Bell broke through his seeding to reach the national over 60’s final.

Ronnie started the draw as the three/four seed and was expected to reach the semi finals of the National Squash Championships last weekend.

However, he defied the odds and upped his game to knock out the number two seed Stephen Jackson from Surrey in five sets at the semi-final stage.

In a tough final against the favourite and number one seed Avon’s Nicholas Drysdale, Ronnie could’t continue his previous good form and lost out 3-0 to the classy veteran despite a spirited showing.

Ronnie was joined in the later stages of the competition at the National Squash Centre in Manchester by club mate David Gray who also beat his seeding to reach the quarter finals of the over 50’s category.
