Message from county chairman Tom Armstrong:
It is with sadness that I report the death of David Kerr a previous member of Cockermouth Squash Club. David, aged 76 years, died at the Cumberland Infirmary on Sunday 12 April 2015.
For those of you who did not know David, he was a Workington solicitor who played a major contribution to the operation and development of squash in Cumbria.
As well as being an active playing member in his club he was chairman for a few years when he did an excellent job.
David`s contribution did not stop at his club – he also played a major role in the county scene. He competed in county competitions and joined the Executive Committee 1981-1982 season as a general member. He was appointed as County Secretary in 1983-1984 season, a position he carried out with great skill and professionalism for 12 years until his retirement from our organisation at the end of the 1994-1995 season – he did a very effective job.
On behalf of CSR I give our condolences to his wife Madeline, his family, friends and squash colleagues
David was a lovely person and a true gentleman who will be sadly missed.
