The second round of the junior inter-counties saw Cumbria’s squash teams rise to the challenge to make three national finals.
The U15 Boys have made the Trophy Final, which will be played on Saturday January 18. They will take on Buckinghamshire, Devon and Avon in matches.
The girls were not to be outdone however, as the U13’s qualified for the main finals at the Surrey Sports Park playing over the same weekend where they will be up agasint strong challengers in the form of Northumbria, Warwickshire, South East Wales, Kent and Surrey. The U15 Girls team also made it through to the Trophy Finals (which is planned to be held in Carlisle on Sunday January 19) against Northumbria, Hampshire and Hertfordshire.
Our other teams also played well and and done Cumbria proud but missed out on any of the finals action.
Other results:
Boys U13 – 10th overall
Boys U17 – had to withdraw at Stage 2
Girls U19 – 5th overall
Junior inter county organiser John Crichton said: “A fantastic effort by all concerned so far, and with 2 Trophy Finals, and 1 Main Final to come in the New Year, this is one more final than the County achieved last year, so we are still on the up!”
Cumbria Squash & Racketball would like to wish all teams luck for the finals.
