A message from Cumbria Squash chairman Tom Armstrong:
Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I have some sad news for you
I am very sorry to report the death of Derrick Leaver, aged 66, a member of Carlisle Squash Club, who died on 10th July 2018 after a short courageous battle with brain cancer.
Derrick was a great supporter of our sport and was a very active player at the club in social squash and in club competitions.
He was a good player who represented the club over many years in county competitions and represented the county on many occasions in England Squash Inter County Championship Masters events.
He was a member of the Over 60 Team that won the National Finals a few years ago.
Derrick was a well-known, friendly and well liked person – a lovely man and a true gentleman – who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
I give my condolences on behalf of our organisation to his family, friends and squash colleagues
